It could be random. 1. GPU overheated during gaming, even with about 90 FPS; slight flickering appeared. 2. Installed latest drivers—issues worsened, so I went back to an older one. Slight improvement. 3. Moved computer outside with air compressor and cleaned dust. Only a thin dust layer remained; fans worked fine. 4. Started raining, air stayed damp but computer stayed dry. Kept it off for a while just to be safe. 5. Plugged everything back in, powered it on—everything runs smoothly and quietly. Loaded a game; interior frame rate dropped to 10-15 FPS (usually 90). 6. Restarted, reinstalled newest drivers, restarted again, then ran the game with HWiNFO64 open. Now 30 FPS inside, 15 FPS outside. No visible flicker despite choppy frames. Temperatures lower than expected, maybe from dusting. 7. Tried other games—same outcome. Overall system works well for basic tasks. I experienced a similar issue with my 1080 Ti Aero from MSI, which was a blower-style card. It wasn't visibly dusty, but inside the cooler, near some fins on the heatsink, a larger dust accumulation had formed. Clearing this up restored its performance to normal.
You checked the dust on the cooler, cleaned it, swapped out the thermal paste, and inspected the board. It looks like a few dust bits might be causing issues with some components on the PCB.
In GPU-Z the sensors section needs ReBAR activated, it's not a major issue on NVidia chips.
Oh right. Sorry about that. Here it is. When I try to start the BIOS to turn on ReBar, the loading screen keeps flickering with a completely black display before switching back to the normal login screen. It prompts me to press "Esc," which I’m doing. I’m not sure why this is happening. Could be a user mistake—I’ve only ever accessed BIOS with assistance from someone else. They just kept pressing "Esc" until it worked, which I did, but nothing changed. Also tried pressing "Esc" just once. Edit: Just got into BIOS via Windows 10 on June 26, 2023 by gotbred More info
