GPU issues
GPU issues
I recently purchased a 1060 to fit into one of my spare cases. When I power on the PC, the GPU fans start up briefly before shutting off, and I can't see any display output. I'm new to building PCs, so I initially thought it might be a driver problem. I'm unsure how to fix it or diagnose other potential issues. Any guidance would help, especially since I've been having trouble getting the system running smoothly. Edit: My specs are 8GB DDR4, 450W PSU, and I don't know my CPU—it's installed under an AIO cooler, and the GPU is the 1060.
Is the system running too hot? Does it respond when under stress? What is the specific model? Most recent GPUs include a low-temperature idle setting, though your unit may not have it. It could also be an older model with similar capabilities.
I should also note that I don’t receive any visual output from the GPU. I’ll update that in the post.
Most decent graphics cards released after 2014 include a ZeroRPM function that powers down the fans when temperatures and workloads drop below a certain level. As long as it isn’t overheating, it’s safe to say it’s still working fine.
Is there an alternative setup you'd like to explore for GPU usage? If it fails on another machine, it might be a problem.
I've tested it on various boards using identical RAM, boot drive, and CPU, but the machine still didn't produce any output.
