Recently, I powered on my computer and noticed the GPU fans operating at full capacity. I opened MSI Afterburner to adjust fan speeds, but it confirmed the fans were running at the expected level. However, the fan noise suggested they weren’t actually reaching that speed. I updated the drivers, reset the BIOS, and reinstalled MSI Afterburner without success.

System details: Windows 11 Home 22621.2861
Processor: Intel Core i5-9400f
RAM: 16 GB DDR4-2666 CL19
Storage: 1x Corsair Vengeance 8 GB DDR4-3200
SSD: 70.69 CFM Samsung 860 Evo 250 GB
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1070 8GB OC
Case: Gigabyte B365M DS3H
Power Supply: Crucial M.2 250 GB SSD
I suspect an OS issue, as fans only reached full speed a minute after logging in. Appreciate any advice!

Consider checking the GPU fans section; it might be that the connectors are slightly out of place and missing their PWM signal.

Are there additional programs influencing fan speeds beyond GPU-specific fans, such as FanControl? You may have unintentionally enabled GPU support.

I’ve verified and I’m not convinced.

Updated: Removed MSI Afterburner and restarted the machine to test. Fans remained off initially. After installing ASUS GPU Tweak III, fans stay at 0% unless manually increased, then they reach 100% speed and keep running until the system restarts, even after resetting fan settings. Any advice would be greatly valued!
