GPU failures during startup are caused by an OC.
I've increased my GPU's performance settings (r9 290) and everything runs smoothly as long as I remember to turn off the overclock before shutting down or hibernating. If I neglect this step, the system crashes immediately when it reaches the login screen.
I use a 600W power supply and have the following overclocking parameters:
+100 Core Voltage
+100 Aux Voltage
+50% Power Limit
Core Clock: 13.8% (1078)
Memory Clock: 1413 (from 1250)
Custom fan speed, never exceeding 82 degrees.
It rarely crashes even when I'm already logged in, which makes me think the issue might be that the overclock doesn't activate before login, causing a crash.
Is there a method to force the GPU to start without applying the overclock? Thanks.
