It began about a week ago while playing Deep Rock Galactic with friends. Suddenly the game would crash unexpectedly. Event viewer showed a specific error: "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." Most crashes happened within a minute. Initially, I assumed it was just the game, but when I tried to launch Star Citizen the following day, the same problem occurred. The next day I also encountered it with Overwatch. That game worked perfectly, never crashing. I ran all my games at full settings and consistently achieved over 100 FPS, indicating the issue wasn’t with Overwatch. I’ve tried several fixes: updated drivers, used DX11/DX12, reinstalled graphics software, switched to Ultimate performance mode, and kept the GPU running without overclocking. My next steps include updating the BIOS, reseating the GPU and RAM. If anyone has additional tips, I’d really appreciate it—this suggests a potential GPU problem that might require replacement. My system specs are low, built in late 2019, with Windows 10 version 19044.1706; CPU: R7 5800X (previously a 3900X), GPU: MSI RTX 2080Ti Gaming X Trio, motherboard: Gigabye Aero X570, RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 4 x 8GB at 3600MHz, power supply: Corsair RM 850X. Thanks!

It's conceivable there was a non-responsive port or a malfunctioning part of your GPU or CPU that triggered during those games.

Following the bios update, it appears to function properly. I'll keep updating if needed

I've encountered a comparable problem with the display driver failing. I'm running a fresh Windows installation with a brand-new drive, updated games, new drivers, cables, a new CPU, motherboard, and power supply. The crashes occurred before any upgrades except the 1080ti I've relied on since 2016. Could the SOC be involved, and might a new GPU be the solution? I haven't overclocked the card, but the fan control software might not be functioning correctly. I'm seeking your advice before purchasing a new GPU.
