A week ago my computer started acting sluggish after playing a game. I checked my thermal paste and saw my RX 3060 at 95°C! I realized this was an issue. I installed MSI Afterburner to force the fans to spin up. Even then, they didn’t move much. After some effort, the fans finally turned on for about 20 minutes. But once the GPU warmed up again, games slowed down. How can I fix this?
It's uncommon for both fans to fail at the same time. It does occur sometimes. Can you recall the room temperature inside your case while gaming and what fan speeds were your GPU fans running? How long has the GPU been in use? Are there any other third-party fan control apps you've used besides Afterburner and FanControl, such as Argus? In the worst scenario, if it's not software-related, you'd just need to swap out the fans. Depending on the brand, model, and your location, finding a replacement can be challenging. Occasionally, the shipping cost exceeds the price of the actual fans themselves. Once you get them, opening up the GPU, removing the old fans, and installing the new ones is all you have to do.
My PC operates near 70°C during intense gaming sessions with the fan running. At full power, the fan spins up to 3400 RPM. The GPU is an RTX3060 that's less than two years old. I've tried other programs but none resolved the problem. Appreciate your help.
