Hey everyone. I've shared this on several forums and tried fixing it myself, but nothing seems to work. In short, randomly at any point—right after logging in or while playing—I notice my computer slows down until it crashes completely. Even when the desktop is blank, lag can appear followed by a black screen. The keyboard lights turn off, but the fans keep running. On the POST monitor, a VGA error appears, leading me to think the GPU is the problem. I've swapped in a similar GPU (same card, different brand) and the issue persists, only resolving after a few restarts. I've used all sorts of solutions—new drivers, reinstalling Windows three times, clearing CMOS, checking temperatures, changing BIOS settings—but nothing helps. My setup includes: Ryzen 5800X3D Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6700 XT, 32GB G.Skill TridentZ-3600, 1TB Micron NVMe, 240GB Samsung NVMe, 500GB Samsung SATA Corsair SF-600w, and a B550I MSI PSU. I spent $120 total for the original card to California for an RMA, hoping it wasn't the real cause. I'm really frustrated. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

The PSU seems a bit weak for this setup since the recommended one is 750W, especially with a high-end CPU in that model. Upgrading should help stabilize things.

Based on what I understand, it might be a power supply (PSU) problem. If you have the time, take each component out and build a test bench—your PC could be lacking power. If you haven’t tried yet, plug it into a separate outlet.

I understand the lowest price shown is 750, but after checking PC Part Picker, the wattage details look questionable. Could be an issue with the listing.

It makes sense to try replacing the power supply unit and checking if the issue resolves itself. Since your system already has top-tier components, a lower-end PSU might be the cause. Hope this gives you some clarity!

1st - Verify you're using the most recent BIOS for your motherboard. If not, consider flashing it, which could resolve the problems.
2nd - Enable XMP (DOCP) only if you're using it; disabling it might stabilize RAM performance.
3rd - Ensure your SSD firmware is up to date.
4th - The PSU might not be the issue since your system doesn't reach 600W under load, but a faulty one could still be the cause—switching it out might help.
5th - Monitor temperatures. You didn't specify your CPU cooler, and the 5800X3D tends to get very hot, particularly if undervolted (PBO curve offset is negative 15-20). I'd lean toward BIOS or temperature factors first.
Report back accordingly.

Bios is current. I leave XMP off by default since the advantage is minimal with the 3d cache. The CPU temperatures rise slightly but stay within safe limits. They wouldn’t cause shutdown unless it gets too hot. I can review the SSD firmware, though I didn’t think there was a link to that issue. Nice observation!

The RAM speed impact from X3D isn't significant. It ranges around 3000, 3200, 3333 or 3600, yet the gap remains large between 2133/2400 and 3200/3600. If it functions, XMP should apply.

I'm not overly concerned at the moment, just focusing on fixing the video problem before turning on XMP.
