If you have an iPad version six with the Google app and updated iOS installed, your issue is that when searching in the Google app, voice recognition doesn't work or it freezes.
The microphone appears, but using it causes the app to freeze.

Not really. It functioned properly until roughly 20 days back and then ceased working.
