Google Fiber worth it?
Google Fiber worth it?
I understand Google Fiber isn’t widely available right now, but someone here might have experience. They offer a 1000mb/s plan for both upload and download at $70 per month. Looking ahead a few years at this price, it’s unclear if it would be worthwhile or if the service could become unreliable.
I'm really disappointed right now. I just found out about it and thought I should ask. They have Google fiber nearby but won't bring it to my area. So I guess I'll have to settle for 200mb/s.
It's still quite solid. You're typically getting around 85Mb per download and 90Mb per upload.
No, I haven't checked AT&T fiber yet. Would you like me to do it for you?
They're just temporarily paused in most places, though some recent updates have been made. For example, San Antonio saw changes earlier this year if you're not in a major city. Expansion continues but slowly, so if you're outside those areas you might never see it. If you're nearby, stay updated and check their website regularly. Value depends on alternatives available locally. In my area, it would cost about $10 more but speed would be five times faster. I haven't heard much about the quality of their ISP modem or router—my current ones are far from good.
