Trying to boost a 16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 3200mhz system has yielded promising and steady outcomes. The stock XMP settings are around 3200mhz with voltages of 16-18-18-36V, but I'm aiming for 4000mhz at lower voltages (1.5v). I plan to adjust the voltage further if needed. My main question is identifying the specific Samsung ICs used in these chips. I only have limited information from Thaiphoon Burner—any insights would be appreciated. Thanks... ~s1rrah

It's only option B. tRP and tRCD are too restrictive for other possibilities.

Thanks for the feedback... it's quite a revelation. I recently attempted to boost my system by increasing the CPU frequency, while keeping the RAM unchanged. It turned out to be quite effective, especially in games like Cyberpunk 2077 on my high-resolution display. The performance gains were noticeable, though I'm still curious about how overclocking the CPU influences RAM adjustments. It's a solid 8086K model running at a respectable speed.

Are you adjusting just the primary settings or also fine-tuning secondary and tertiary timings? I’ve managed to achieve DDR4-3600 CL15 using B-Die kits of DDR4-3000 CL14 from G.Skill RipJaws. On the other hand, I’m using four DIMMs and have pushed the CPU to 5.1 GHz, which puts a lot of stress on CPU/IMC. Still, the results are impressive.

Hey there... as discussed (probably) ... I've been using these sticks for roughly five years, and this week was the first time I considered boosting their speed. I'm not very familiar with timing specs or secondary/tertiary settings. I just opened the BIOS and adjusted the clock speeds from 16/18/36 to 16/16/36... the system interprets it as 16-16-16-36. To be honest, I'm only using two 8GB units. I also have another set of identical RAM I bought about two years ago for a 32GB upgrade, which didn't come with these mysterious Samsung modules. In previous setups with all four installed, they worked perfectly at XMP 3200MHz with 16-18-18-36, but I never attempted to overclock all four. It's unlikely this new batch has the same Samsung chips; I plan to remove these Samsung units tomorrow and swap in the newer ones to check what the actual ICs are—probably Hynix. I'd prefer to stick with the two 4000MHz sticks if the other one fails, and keep the others as a backup. I mainly play games and have had no issues at 16GB. Usually I set it around 5.2 or 5.3GHz for daily use with the 8086K, and the RAM overclock seems to work well either way. I've tried 5.4GHz and the CPU handles it without trouble, but after 5.3GHz with a 1.35V boost? Temps stay low, around the mid-50s, thanks to the chip's ability to run at low voltages (see that video). But like timing, I'm still figuring things out and don't fully grasp how CPU overclocking affects RAM performance. Last week I bought a Z590 Asus Maximus Hero with 11700K, but I'm planning to return it and keep this 8086K for another year or so. It's mostly about gaming and social browsing, not heavy rendering, so the cost doesn't seem worth it. I'm pretty close to competing with the 10700K/11700K/11900K models since I play close to 4K resolution (3840x1600) and find them really enjoyable to experiment with. Thanks for the helpful tips!

It looks like this device might be Samsung A-Die based on the manufacturer info, though the B-Die is possible due to the date. The build quality seems strong. Check typhoonburner for a detailed report that could confirm the die type.

The Thaiphoon Burner results are shared as a picture at the top of this discussion... unlike some TBurner readouts, mine doesn't mention the exact chip used... but honestly, they keep going. I'm planning to try 4000mhz at 15.15.15.34 and let it be for now if it stays steady. The 800mhz clock works well and timing tweaks are solid... I'm really excited about that though, maybe they can push it up to 4200mhz with default settings... just a joke, but it sounds promising. Read/write speeds improved from around 50200 MB/s to nearly 58000 MB/s after the overclock...
