I’m really struggling to figure this out and I think the training missions were pretty basic. Honestly, I’d say the game doesn’t really explain things well.

Well, I suggest trading. Trading is the top method to earn money and acquire a combat ship or bigger vessels. Once you have sufficient funds for a combat ship, you can pursue bounty hunting and other opportunities. After that, it’s up to you what you aim to do. Of course, you don’t have to start trading right away, but it’s a good idea. The bigger the ship you own, the more cargo you can transport and the more income you generate. Plus, if you’d like, I can join you and assist you along the way.

The best tutorial is to keep your money and not buy it. Frontier constantly ignore community requests to add real content to the game, its almost like they want it to be huge, open & empty. Once you get a decent bank balance there's literally nothing to keep you interested, PvP & bounty hunting gets old very fast, mining is like watching paint dry, smuggling is almost impossible now every station has security and even planetary landing is just copy pasta on every planet. Also their sales techniques are "questionable". The way they handled Horizons was a slap in the face to everyone who bough ED without Horizons and it'll be the same thing next " season" too.

It's almost a general agreement now, though only the strict supporters keep going through ED. It doesn't matter if you're spending your money, just stay quiet until you understand what I'm saying in six months.
