i experience an extremely disappointing performance across all games i play, and i’m unsure what’s causing it. it feels like there’s a bottleneck somewhere, but most games run below 70% usage on any platform.
specs: 4070ti, i7 11700k, 16gb ddr4 3600mhz, z590a, 750w gold psu.
in mid valorant with 200 average fps, the same game.
cpuz stats show my settings are set high for 1080p, yet performance remains unchanged across all games. i’ve read many similar discussions, but most advice either doesn’t fit my setup or hasn’t worked for me. it’s starting to get frustrating because i’m eager to upgrade to a higher resolution monitor (currently at 280), but if i don’t see noticeable improvement, it feels pointless. i built my system in february 2023 and have had this issue since purchasing it; although it didn’t affect me at 165hz, once i reached 280hz the difference became clear.
thx ahead and sorry if i missed something obvious. i’m not very familiar with pc components.

There are three utilities available to assist in tracking system performance:
Task Manager, Resource Monitor, and Process Explorer (Microsoft, free).
Utilize all three tools but operate one at a time.
Initially assess system behavior while not engaging in gaming.
Keep the tool window open and accessible.
Play games normally, observing any alterations.
Experiment with various games, ensuring changes are noted one by one and allowing time for stability.
You should notice something unusual or unexpected.
