You can reinstall your PC without using a disk by following a factory reset procedure. There are tools available that let you restore settings directly from the system, so you won’t need a physical drive. After restoring, Windows will be reinstalled, and you’ll need to re-enter your code or key. Let me know if you need guidance on the steps!

Should there be a backup option? It seems it should preserve everything up to now.

For Windows 8, the restore, refresh, and reset tool does not require any disk space.

On WIN7 you can quickly refresh by pressing F11, ESC or another key depending on your system, without needing a backup.

I’m not sure, but I’d like to clear everything from the HDD because someone gave me the PC, and I’m using Windows 7.

It could erase all data except Windows since you aim for a fresh start.

If a backup exists near the time of purchase, otherwise follow the advice of someone else.
