It wasn’t logged in on that device, which made capturing and uploading the photo easier. Now I’m using my laptop, and I’ve kept it this whole way.

Changes can be both bothersome and beneficial over time. For instance, installing updates and service packs for Vista brings significant improvements, nearly matching Windows 7 in performance—though not identical. The same applies to XP and 8. It wasn’t that way when they were first released.

I misplaced the disc, but it should work with Windows 10 right away, so it’s not a major problem

Creating a new disc or using USB... or simply pressing F8 to access recovery options. Then comes sfc/scan. Ultimately, you shouldn't be overly concerned or seem too lazy.
