Hello, I recently changed my Netgear R7000 (Merlin WRT) to Flint (openwrt). The WAN port was set identical. However, I’m experiencing connection problems when the ISP cable is connected directly into Flint. (Log): On Dec 30 2023 at 20:31:06, daemon.notice netifd reported that the ‘eth0’ link was down. No issues occurred if the R7000 was connected to the ISP cable and other devices were linked to the R7000. When Flint was plugged into the LAN port of the R7000 and all other devices connected, there was no connection loss. If the ISP cable was inserted into Flint, the connection dropped. (Kern log shows permission denied when trying to send a release.)

It depends on your setup. Using a different router can affect performance, while skipping one might change how the connection works.
