Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4 has VGA active but no screen appears.
Today I upgraded my system with an i5-13600k and the Gigabyte Z690 X DDR4. I’ve got 32 gigabytes of G-skill RGB RAM and a 2080 graphics card. After installing the new motherboard, my DRAM light stayed on but the display didn’t appear. I tried reseating cables, changing the GPU, plugging into an iGPU, using different monitors, and even different cables—still nothing. Now I’m facing another issue: the VGA light is lighting up on my motherboard but no display shows up. I’ve done some troubleshooting already, but it’s frustrating to have a brand new computer that isn’t working properly.
Hello, I received a Z690 DDR5 gaming motherboard with an i5-13600K processor, Corsair Vengeance 32 GB DDR5 RAM (5600MHz), an old ATI HD 5870 PCIe 2x card, and the BIOS is updated to version F21. The motherboard powers on correctly, but I notice the NumLock light appears on the keyboard while pressing it, yet the light doesn’t change. The VGA output stays active. Have you tried any fixes? Was it possible to get it working?
Gigabyte's technical support team replied. Thank you for reaching out to GIGABYTE. We’re here to assist with your technical question. It might be that the graphics card is too outdated for your mainboard, and the board needs to run in UEFI mode. You’ll need to turn on Legacy Mode in BIOS to make this card work. Best regards, GIGABYTE Team I see that once you can access the BIOS, it may allow the graphics to function properly. I’ll have to ask a friend to help me with this. It appears there’s an issue with Gigabyte not offering this feature by default.
