Gigabyte X299X model 10G does not display full 128GB RAM capacity.
Hey everyone, I installed a Gigabyte X299 with a 7940X and attempted to install 128GB (8x16GB). It shows all memory but only reports 96GB. I’ve checked the CPU placement and thought it might be an issue, but I’m unsure if it’s because it isn’t listed for 8 sticks. The board lists as 1Rx8, and the only compatible sets are 2Rx8, not 8Rx8. Am I correct about this? Are there any other steps I can take?
This appears unrelated to compatibility issues; check if any RAM slots are faulty by removing them individually to identify the defective ones.
The bios lists every stick and claims 16GB per stick, yet only displays 96GB total. None of the drives appear to be failing.
It might be the problem. I suggest trying to move the RAM around to check for pairing. Remember to label kit one and two.
