I purchased the new 12600k with a Gigabyte motherboard. After installing it, I encountered two issues. My Corsair Dominator DDR4 was working fine, but I used an XMP profile with NP on my older ASUS motherboard. Now, when I tried to set XMP on the new Gigabyte BIOS, the PC didn’t load at all and only displayed a black screen. After several restarts, I managed to reset the BIOS, but the XMP profile still wouldn’t appear or work. Even after restarting the PC, it kept showing the same black screen without any response. I’m unsure how to fix the black screen that doesn’t show anything, and I’m not sure if I can reset the BIOS myself.

1) How can I ensure the motherboard gives me an option to reset its BIOS settings in case of such problems?
2) Why isn’t the XMP profile loading as expected despite using NP on the ASUS board?

Follow the instructions in the manual to reset CMOS. It seems Asus handled the XMP profile more effectively; they could have stayed consistent.

Consider sticking to the ASUS board for now, at least until further BIOS updates or patches are available.
