I own an old machine with a GIGABYTE GA-X48T-DQ6 board. Previously, I ran 2x2GB RAM before one failed. Now I upgraded to 8GB (4x2GB) since the board supports it. But when installing new memory that matches the old speed, the BIOS only sees 256MB per stick, while Windows displays 8GB usable. Using an old stick still shows just 2GB. I really wish I could get this system running smoothly, especially for games like World of Warcraft that it still handles well. Any suggestions or assistance would be appreciated!

I believed they wouldn’t function, yet do these 4GB DDR3 modules support dual rank (i.e., both sides)?

Updated system details now reflect recent changes. Previous bios may still have performance issues until hardware limitations are resolved. Orientation adjustments were made for better compatibility. My Phenom2 struggled with RAM, taking 20 seconds to load and failing to reach higher speeds even when configured. After flashing, it now boots in 3 seconds and supports higher RAM speeds—FSB tuning is active. Newer boards can run the latest BIOS, and older models can still benefit from updated versions, even beta releases. Performance improvements are noticeable, with stronger memory controller support between i3 and i7 models.

Quick update: I updated the bios, but it still displays 1GB in BIOS while showing 8GB (with 1GB usable) in Windows. It seems like each stick is using 256MB of space. I’m planning to add pictures of my old Corsair and new Kingston drives.
