Hi there, I’m reaching out for some guidance. I found a PC with the Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3V, featuring an Intel i5-4460 processor and the latest BIOS. Recently, I’ve encountered some problems. Currently, I can only install PCI-e cards besides the graphics card. My setup uses a Palit GeForce GTX 1060 with 3GB of RAM. I’m unsure if the problem lies with the PCIe cards or the motherboard itself. It seems the board appears fine, but I’m not sure what’s causing the issue.

If I restart the PC, it boots normally. But if I power off and turn it back on, it powers up quickly—sometimes a few seconds. After that, I sit with nothing on the screen, then it restarts itself. Eventually, it displays the Gigabyte Dual Bios UEFI screen, but only shows the label “Gigabyte Dual Bios.” It cycles through loading options—defaults, optimal defaults, and then BIOS entry—but once it boots again, the settings remain unchanged. I’ve reset it to defaults and tried customizing, but nothing has changed.

This PC has been running for nearly two days without any restarts. I’m using it to back up my HDD from another system that had an NVME SSD failure. The original PC worked perfectly until I connected the NVME to PCIe, which caused the same boot issues. Now it’s trying to boot from the SSD but still shows the same error message.

I’m not on a budget for replacing the board, and I’d really appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!

Initial thought points to faulty MB firmware or CMOS issue. Begin by disconnecting the power cable and removing the CMOS battery. Hold the power button for a minute, then restart in any mode it accepts. Next, obtain the latest stable BIOS and apply it. Another approach involves turning off fast startup: navigate to Power Options, select Advanced Power Options, adjust button behaviors, disable unavailable settings, and finally turn off fast startup and hibernate.

Thanks for the guidance. It seems the fast startup might be related to the recent changes. It appears the quick boot feature has been disabled, and I can install MacOS without any issues.

In your BIOS it's set differently. The Windows logic is working again—thank you for fixing it. I hope this setting was disabled by default.

Hey, the motherboard seems to keep restarting without any BIOS reset showing up. It’s like it’s stuck in a loop, and even after swapping out the PSU and removing RAM, it still keeps rebooting. The CPU fan turning off the heatsink suggests the processor is trying to cool itself, but it doesn’t seem to be resolving the issue. Give it some time, check for power connections, and consider testing with a different case or power supply if possible.
