Hello everyone... This might seem odd, but I’m seeking another perspective. My friend recently suggested building his gaming PC, and because he had limited funds, I was searching for good deals. I found a Ryzen 5 2600 with a B550M AORUS Elite as a package for $100 USD. Considering his needs, he probably won’t upgrade the 2600 for another year or two, especially since he doesn’t use his PC heavily. So swapping his B550M AORUS Elite for my B450M Pro VDH Max seems fine.

My current build includes a Ryzen 5 5600 that’s overclocked to 4.8GHz all cores at 1.24V. I’ve tested Cinebench R23 for six hours straight without any stability issues, and I’ve been using this CPU for about seven months. I also have a Gen 4 NVMe SSD and my motherboard supports Gen 3. The B550AORUS has nice features like 3-pin ARGB headers. In my opinion, it would make more sense to pair that board with the 5600.

I’m still unsure if switching is the right move and whether the VRM settings on this board are better or at least comparable to the B450M Pro VDH Max. I’d like some advice before making any changes and keeping my current setup.

Ugh, wow now I need to buy that B550 myself. Guess I forgot to verify backward compatibility. I got both items from two different people, which adds up to around $100. My bad!

Actually there is a chance Zen and Zen+ can work on B550 with a newer bios, but there is no official support, some features might be missing and stability isn't guaranteed.
