I built this system using a B460 Aorus PRO AC motherboard and installed an Intel 10th gen i3 10100F. The hardware specs are as follows: two 8GB Kingston Fury Beast DDR4 2666MHz modules, a ROG Strix GTX1650 Super graphics card, a 550W ROG Strix Gold power supply, and a 500GB Samsung EVO 970 Plus NVMe SSD. Over the past nearly two years, I've been using it for storage, file management, printing, and word processing. When I power it on after a cold start, it repeatedly boots twice before loading Windows 10. During normal restarts or warm-up cycles, it reboots correctly. It functions perfectly once Windows is already running. However, the repeated boot behavior is bothersome.
I replaced my RAM with modules matching the 2666MHz specification, hoping this would reset the system each time I power it on from shutdown. I also tested the PSU by swapping it with another PC, which performed flawlessly. The same double-boot issue persists even after replacing the power supply. I checked all possible BIOS settings but found no difference.
After three BIOS updates from Gigabyte, the problem remains unchanged. Since the warranty has expired, I’m unable to return it for repair. I was concerned about sending it back during the warranty period, given my experience with hardware. Have anyone else experienced this issue with a B460 Aorus PRO AC or similar motherboard? Hello. I considered your question carefully. Would it really be enough to simply perform the training process after new RAM was installed? There is indeed a BIOS option to stop retraining during fast boot, but I couldn’t locate it on this specific motherboard.
When you add new memory, it either restarts the previous overclock settings or goes back to the default state. The device doesn't have any better way of handling it. Clearing the CMOS would reset the memory as well. The memory calibration occurs only during cold starts and isn't needed each time you restart. It's just part of ensuring stability. Everything is fine; the board is preparing the memory for reliability.
All my ROG boards have similar issues. It depends on the RAM, speed, and other settings. For my Rampage II Extreme, I can disable the memory check. My Maximus X Hero has several memory optimization settings that can be adjusted. With Gigabyte, I'm not sure if these options are fully adjustable by users.
