The Gigabyte Ab500 Gaming supports second and third generation Ryzen CPUs out of the box. No BIOS update is needed for compatibility. If you need a specific CPU model, ensure it matches the supported range.

It varies based on when you got it. Did you buy it recently? The box usually has a label showing compatibility details. Without an orange or grey label, it’s likely designed for the first generation Ryzen.

It seems this motherboard is limited to older CPUs and lacks a method for updating the BIOS without a matching processor. Would someone with a Ryzen chip be able to help?

Sadly, the majority of B350 motherboards only accommodate up to 2nd generation Ryzen. While some models are compatible with Ryzen Gen 3 processors (Matisse and Picasso), a BIOS upgrade is necessary. Positive news is that these boards do support Gen 3 Ryzen chips. You'll have to install a BIOS update first. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-...upport-cpu However, you must complete several BIOS updates before reaching the version that matches your processor.

The Ryzen bootkit service is available, but it doesn't specify compatibility with B350 boards. It's unclear if it can be applied in your case.

AMD stopped offering the boot kit support for early models once it became unnecessary for later generations.
