Hello, I’m facing a serious issue that needs attention. I’d rather not return my GPU through RMA than risk further damage. It was purchased from Newegg in March, and since then it keeps crashing under heavy gaming loads—like playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, New World, or Cyberpunk 2077. Under normal use it works fine, but when settings are maxed out it shuts down and restarts my whole PC. I’ve tried re-seating the power cables, upgraded to a 1000W power supply, and even performed bench tests and stress tests. Still nothing changes. I kept it in my existing setup with an older motherboard, but now I have a new AM5 motherboard/CPU. From what I understand, all drivers are up to date. In the Event Viewer I see only event 41, but I've already swapped out the power supply and other components. The system runs fine under stress tests, except during heavy gaming sessions like Assassins Creed Odyssey at full settings. I can play for around 15 minutes before it crashes.
Error 41 isn't directly linked to PSU issues, though it might be one of the factors that can be eliminated after replacing the power supplies. Did you switch all the cables to the new ones? Are the CPU and PCIe connections correctly established, and are you using either a daisy-chained setup or two separate cables for the GPU? Make sure all eight pins are properly seated. Just like in the 6+2 arrangement, if the pins aren't aligned right before insertion, they might stay partially inside the GPU due to its locking system. How are temperatures looking across the CPU, GPU, VRAM, and VRMs? Is there any overclocking detected, or is the system running at stock speeds during crashes? Are all PCIe slots fully occupied? Have you tested another PCIe slot?
I updated all the cables to the new ones. I’ll verify the connectors and their positions in the power supply. Are you connecting a daisy chained cable to the GPU or using two separate cables? They’re both included with the Lian Li power supply I received. Are all eight pins properly seated? I’ll re-seat them to determine if that resolves the problem. What are the system temperatures? I’m checking CPU, GPU, VRAM, and VRMs. Temperatures appear normal based on my research, but I’ve attached some images below for reference.
Everything appears normal except for the hotspot, which is a bit warm. You're running at full speed, so it makes sense, and it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Gaming should lower the temperature, and you're not experiencing crashes under load. It seems like your cables are well-placed, but if you're still having problems, it might be worth considering a replacement part. Switching to a different PCIe slot could help—check for any sag or misalignment, and make sure it's fully seated. If that doesn't resolve the issue, the problem might be with the GPU itself. But honestly, it’s probably not something major unless you're still seeing crashes.
