Gigabit LAN speed limited to 100 Mbps
You've tried everything—firmware updates, a restart, and even swapping the router. The issue seems to be specific to your new Nighthawk X4S R7800. It might help to check for firmware compatibility or verify that the hardware is correctly installed. Also, ensure both computers are connected properly and that there are no driver conflicts. If the problem persists, consider reaching out to Nighthawk support for further assistance.
I'm not familiar with what controls the Nighthawk let you toy with but see if there's an option that lets you set the speed of the LAN interfaces. It may give you an option of 100/1000 and you'd want it set to 1000 or AUTO (if an option). At the same time though this is usually auto-negotiated unless you set it to do this so it's kind of a shot in the dark.
It appears the problem might involve both machines, not just one. Enforcing full-duplex could potentially resolve the issue. Check if it’s limited to these two devices.
I only have a laptop available for testing, but it doesn’t come with a boot drive, which means it will take some time before I can run tests on it.
You might install Linux on a small USB stick and start from there. Then use "ip a" to see how fast the network is.
Verified every port on the router and confirmed the laptop displays 1Gbps across all connections.
good idea. i just checked and all the ports show as 1 gb when i hook the laptop up to them.
