Hello, I tried adjusting the performance settings in msconfig by changing the number of cores from 1 to 4, but after restarting, I couldn't boot and ended up stuck on the system restore screen. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 11 with a Pentium N3710 processor. I’m not very familiar with computers, but I hope you can help me out.

Benput22 asked for assistance with improving laptop performance by adjusting advanced settings in msconfig. He set the number of cores from 1 to 4 but encountered issues restarting, getting stuck on the system restore screen. He mentioned his Dell Inspiron 11 with a Pentium N3710 and admitted lacking technical knowledge. He suggested trying a Linux LiveCD or formatting the PC to recover files before reinstalling the OS.

I have tried before realizing that it doesn't make a difference and might only cause confusion. I don't know who shares this information. Do not alter msconfig unless you're certain of the changes. When you're on the screen, can you still keep Windows 10 open?

Consider using a safe boot to access windows and revert that configuration.
