Getting better tips on how to upgrade parts or put together a fresh computer system.
Hello, I need some help either upgrading some parts or buying a whole new computer. I know nothing about computers except how to build them myself, and even when building, I am not good at tech details. Yes, there are sites like PCPartPicker that can guide me, but after looking at the site, I still don't know if my choices are right. So here is why I am asking today: 1) My processor is too old, so I want to upgrade it in parts (CPU, motherboard, and RAM). 2) Or maybe I should just buy a new computer entirely? Here is what I have right now: Motherboard: MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Edge Wifi (MS-7c79) CPU: Intel Core i3 10105F @ 3.70GHZ GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Ram: 32GB Dual Channel DDR4 @ 1599MHz Storage: 1863GB Kingston SNV2S2000G (SSD) Additional Drives: 14902GB Avolusion PRO-5Y SCSI Disk Device (USB SATA) 39C, 953GB Lexar SL200 SCSI Disk Device (USB SATA SSD), 26C, 4657GB Western Digital WD easystore 2624 USB Device (USB SATA SSD), 31C, 3726GB Seagate BUP Portable SCSI Disk Device (USB SATA), 32C, 7452GB Western Digital WD easystore 264D USB Device (USB SATA), 39C, 16764GB Avolusion PRO-5X SCSI Disk Device (USB SATA). Before I get a closer look at my power supply, here is what I want to do: make sure the computer can play games well when things are heavy like rendering lots of markers, and run many apps without slowing down. If there are other parts I should add or just need for better performance? Also, since I am pretty new to computers, if anyone helps me with any advice, guidance on what else might be needed would help too so that I can learn more in the future. Thank you.
You could just drop in a 11th Gen i7 into the socket but you will need to upgrade the cooler(if you're using a stock intel cooler at this moment) to something beefy. Either a beefy air cooler or an AIO(watercooler. The sweet spot for Intel's DDR4 platforms was between DDR4-3200MHz and DDR4-3600Mhz with tight latencies. What is the make and model of your PSU and it's age? Make and model of your case? You might want to stylize your thread with info asked of in this thread; *How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice* How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice First off, respect where respect is due - this is an adaptation of the Animal's *How To Ask For New Build Advice* Sticky. I created this because there's a lot of posts nowadays asking for upgrade advice both on here and on the CPU forums, and I feel... forums. and the community will chime in with worthwhile suggestions. We're also going to need to know the tasks you're going to be taxing the system with.
I forgot to say the name of the computer, which is Gamdias. I might also want to upgrade it since this one came from before and I don't know everything about it right now.
