Get your Windows 10 back through the official reactivation process.
You've changed your motherboard and are facing issues with Windows reactivation. Since you have an upgrade license from Windows 7, Microsoft support may not be able to assist due to missing purchase proof. Trying to switch back to the old motherboard might help, as Windows could recognize it and allow reactivation again. Checking for a Windows 10 product key there could also be useful. Let me know if you need more guidance.
I’m already signed in and haven’t altered my operating system; it simply turned off after I replaced the motherboard.
You might have experienced a major hardware modification and it could mean you need to contact Microsoft or buy a new license. The outcome varies—some people handled it smoothly while others faced issues. To avoid future complications, I purchased a retail version of Windows 10 Pro for under $30.
When accessing your MS account, you should see the associated key or activation details. If the key is linked to that account, it can be moved. This change occurred several years ago. The main reason it may not appear is if the original key was generated before setup.
They’re really being unreasonable with this situation... They pushed me to buy Windows again just because I swapped my SSD. That’s not fair, and their support is terrible. I ended up getting a product key from eBay for just £3, and it actually works perfectly. Don’t bother with them at all!
