Right now I’m using the most recent chipset driver from AMD’s site, which is version 7.06.02.123. It was released on June 13th, but my motherboard manufacturer lists a newer version, 7.06.24.2226, dated August 25th. It seems the latest release is more current, though it might be worth checking the official AMD page to confirm. My system runs a Ryzen 9 9900X on a Gigabyte X870 GAMING X board with BIOS version F4 (not updated). The F7 build is the latest non-beta version.

Saving the AMD file should function identically.

It doesn’t really matter if it’s an older release; I thought updating chipset drivers to the newest version was beneficial. What confuses me is that Gigabyte seems to be leading AMD in terms of version numbers. I’m unsure why downloading directly from their site would be risky, yet I still want to confirm before proceeding. The fact that they’re listed separately also causes some confusion for me.

The chipset driver isn't crucial for updating unless a significant issue is found. I'd prefer to use the latest release AMD provides for the boards that use it. The Gigabyte version could represent an internal tweak of the official AMD update.
