I created my PC around a year ago and recently found out that my motherboard and RAM aren't compatible. I'm seeking advice on potential problems or steps to take if I encounter freezing issues in games like For the King 2. My setup includes an i5 13400F, a TUF Gaming 4070 Ti, Gigabyte B660M DDR4 (rev 1), Corsair Vengeance 3600MHz 16GB, and a 18-22-22-42 1.35V power supply.
The freeze occurs at various times, not consistently. It can happen while browsing the Internet or when idle. Recovery options exist; restarting the PC usually resolves it.
Consider testing the RAM at a reduced frequency, such as 3200Mhz.
when i used windows 11 it would freeze occasionally, so i had to shut down the computer. after switching to fresh windows 10 it worked properly, but sometimes the freeze returns. this time it’s brief but happens frequently—especially during gameplay or when graphics are set to maximum. it only occurs when i open the game browser, otherwise it’s less noticeable. youtube seems to be affected too.
I was thinking about purchasing another 2x8 kit, since I believe it wouldn't work with the current setup. Would you consider getting a 4 RAM kit with 3200 MHz?
Lower the RAM speed in XMP settings—it’s quicker and simpler. There’s no MB incompatibility issue; it might be the CPU controller struggling with high-speed RAM. If the non-OC'd RAM is functioning well, just run the profile at a slower speed, such as 3200MHz.
