An OEM motherboard can be challenging. My Dell from that era only boots with an i3 or i5 non-k variant. The best option is to attempt reinstalling the old unit, but it might be necessary to replace it. Fortunately, 4th and 5th generation Intel chips are relatively affordable on the used side. You could look into Free Geek or similar resources if you have access nearby.
