I need an upgrade. Mostly I use my computer for video editing (full time job) and for gaming here and there. I found this option: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BjLXyg. It fits your budget of $1k-$2k, so it looks like a good choice. Could you check it and suggest any other replacements you might want? Thanks!

Are you intentionally avoiding Intel 13 generation CPUs for a specific purpose?

I didn't notice it was quite costly, but I was hoping to save some money. Do you think it's worth the price?

Well...........
Your budget seems to be around 2000, but the current parts are 1462. That’s a solid deal you’ve found on the 12700K.
You could consider a 13600K, 13700K, or even 13700K with DDR5 RAM instead of DDR4.
The cost difference for DDR5 is minimal now—possibly just around 30 dollars in your situation.
Maybe pairing it with a B760 or Z790 motherboard would be a good idea.
Compare your final build to the 12700K at 1462, and let me know what matters most to you.
I’m not very familiar with that specific setup, but I’m open to hearing your thoughts.
Your perspective isn’t drastically different from mine—diminishing returns start to show, and you might not notice much difference.
Just that a bit more performance is possible for a few extra dollars. The decision is entirely up to you. I don’t know your budget constraints well, nor am I prone to buyer’s remorse.

Thank you for your feedback. I have flexibility with my budget and can adjust accordingly. I also aim for improved performance since I rely heavily on this device daily for work. The color preference is flexible—I’m okay with a white case, though I don’t mind a bright pink one either.

Here’s a revised version of your text:

Considering all white options would be a nice touch.
Switching to the RX 7800XT offers a solid upgrade.
A bigger white RGB CPU cooler
White RGB memory
DDR5 motherboard featuring white accents.
The memory bandwidth is advantageous for workstation tasks, and DDR5 includes partial ECC support, contributing to greater stability.
The 12700k price point remains unmatched at the moment.

Only you understand how far up the perf ladder you wish to go. Consider adding a 12600k and possibly saving some money. If you're not aiming to overclock, try using a B series motherboard instead, which might also save you some cash. Check the requirements for your editing app to see what it depends on.

I recommend beginning here: Hardware Suggestions Our workstations designed for DaVinci Resolve have been tested and fine-tuned to ensure optimal performance and dependability. Check out our hardware suggestions. www.pugetsystems.com Hardware Suggestions Our workstations built for Blender have undergone testing and optimization to deliver peak efficiency. Explore our hardware recommendations. www.pugetsystems.com Hardware Suggestions Our workstations tailored for Adobe Premiere Pro are rigorously tested and optimized for maximum speed and stability. Review our hardware suggestions. www.pugetsystems.com If you rely heavily on Blender, opt for an Nvidia platform. The i7 14700 model is expected soon; it’s best to wait. Given the intense CPU demands and continuous workload, a robust motherboard with powerful VRMs is advisable. Choose a motherboard with at least 12 phases and 70A capacitors for VRMs. DDR4 remains a solid option, so consider a Z690 motherboard paired with USB bios flashback to accommodate the i7 14700 and DDR4 memory. DDR5 versus DDR4: When Is Upgrading RAM Necessary? Enter the new age of DDR5 RAM Steer clear of Intel 13th Gen BIOS Update Problems With These Z690 Boards BIOS Flashback boards enable updates even on B660 processors. Aim for a 64 GB storage with a clock speed of 3600mhz as the ideal configuration. Select top-tier SSDs; recommendations include Crucial P5 Plus, WD SN850X, Kingston KC3000, and Samsung 980 Pro/990.
