It's been on my mind since that Amazon Basics video and Linus talking about Ethernet jack quality. I've been using Monoprice products for a while and am now searching for better options. Thanks in advance!
It's tough to say, but if your cable isn't being moved or stepped on, it doesn't really matter much. I've tried Rosewill cables, which seem to have a decent jacket. Personally, I prefer Startech and Cables To Go. Even the cables from your internet router aren't that bad. I haven't used Amazon or Monoprice Ethernet cables, so I don't know what to say.
Scope and Beldin stand out among the options, not the budget kind. The main benefit is a higher quality jacket, thicker yet still flexible. Still, they often come with subpar cables. Beldin offers some great ones—there’s a model with a button on the backing that flashes the clear housing for a brief period when pressed, helping locate the connection. These aren’t overly costly, especially compared to what I thought, around $45 for a 100-foot cable. Overall, I’d prefer Monoprice cables, but these are worth it when frequent plugging or unplugging is needed, such as in a workspace or for floor-mounted PTP radios.
