I'm attempting to boost my memory performance after installing new CPUs. The default XMP setting isn't functioning, so I need to create a custom profile. The system fails to start once the profile is applied, and debug lights indicate issues between CPU and boot process. I've reset CMOS to power on. My hardware configuration is listed as Intel Core i7-12700K, GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-06 ATX Mid Tower from PCPartPicker. Would you like me to include images of the BIOS settings?

Running four sticks will reduce the supported speeds, whereas two sticks might give you the 3600 C18, but with four you're likely limited to the 3200 from Intel. A 2x16 setup would also save some money. A 32gb configuration with a 2x16 kit costs $94.99, while a 32gb kit for 2x8 sticks is $120. Also, consider increasing the voltage—typically 1.37 to 1.4v works well.

I also own a B550 Aorus Pro motherboard from Gigabyte that has been reported to have memory overclocking problems. Because both your board and yours are from Gigabyte, this issue might be affecting you too. You’d need to access the BIOS settings and manually adjust your RAM speeds—automatic XMP won’t help. From what I’ve seen, that’s the only solution I’ve found.
