Get a fresh Wi-Fi card for better performance.
You’re looking at upgrading your setup for schoolwork. Since you don’t have a Wi-Fi card yet, consider getting one that supports faster speeds like Wi-Fi 6 or 6E. Look for a reliable brand, good range, and decent battery life if you’ll be moving it around. Also check compatibility with your router model. If you need strong performance, a mid-range to high-end card will be best.
Check your current Ethernet connection speed and let me know your spending limits. Confirm if your router offers 5G capabilities and whether minimizing delay is a priority. Also, tell me if your space is right above the router or if you're located farther away.
TP-Link produces quality products, my Archer T5e functions excellently
The card you purchase isn't usually affected by Wi-Fi speeds, but it's good to check. I'll review TP Link next.
Speed is around 40Mbps down and 16Mbps up. I’m not sure if this is 5G, but I’m right above the router.
As the other person mentioned, tplink produces excellent products. I own a T4U for $25 and it functions flawlessly. You could also consider using a USB card rather than a PCI one, as it might be useful later.
USB cards and PCI devices both work, but their performance depends on the specific use case and requirements.
It's possible the PCI devices would work better due to greater available bandwidth, but in practice, with the speeds your ISP offers, performance should still be adequate.
