Hello.
I have an AMD 8350 processor installed on a Gigabyte 990FX motherboard.
I plan to overclock it, but I have a question:
After doing so, can I switch between the overclocked state and idle without using the BIOS? Or is it permanently locked at the faster speed?
Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Based on how you set up the overclock, the processors' low power modes will continue to operate. For instance, my i5-2500k runs at 4.498 GHz but can lower itself to 1598 MHz when idle. It's feasible to turn off these lower power states to maintain maximum clock speed consistently, which is often chosen for more stable overclocking.
