After a reboot, it appeared as Gen 3 x4 and functioned correctly. Then I returned to the BIOS and set the slot to "Auto," which changed it to Gen 4 x4 and improved performance to 7,084MB/s Read/5,206 Write. I've restarted multiple times with the same outcome.
