there was an issue, the full details weren't shared. i mentioned overclocking it with mem clock at 670mhz and core at 970mhz. this should increase fps in games like mw2,3 ac2,3 by about 5-6 fps. don't push it further—it could cause instability and possibly freeze the system. i've managed to get the evga 610 up to 955mhz on core clock using the new gameready driver, which was released around christmas. in my view, this card isn't bad despite being old, as it performed all the tasks i needed.

I don't agree with some of you. I recently got an old GT610 and set up a computer right away. After installing the overclock software Evga Precision X16 and NVIDIA drivers, I was able to overclock it immediately. I achieved around 20 FPS at 1366x768 in NFSMW 2012 without OC and 1012 with OC from 810 and RAM between 530 and 564. In the game, I got about 35 FPS at the same resolution with no extra settings enabled. At 1920x1080p, I managed roughly 23 FPS consistently. The GPU temperature was 88°C, fan speed was at 100%, and memory usage reached 1455MB out of 2 GB. Impressed.

I don't fully support some of the changes I made recently. I had an old GT610 with a pre-built computer setup, and after installing the overclock software Evga Precision X 16 and NVIDIA drivers, I was able to overclock it immediately. I achieved around 20 FPS at 1366x768 in NFSMW 2012 without OC, and 1012 FPS with OC from 810 to 564 with 530MB RAM. When running at 1920x1080p, I got about 23 FPS consistently. The GPU temperature was 88°C, the fan speed was at 100%, and memory usage reached 1455MB out of a 2GB limit. Impressed.

Three points to note: First, what other settings were you using besides resolution for NFSMW 2012? Second, I hope you don't keep that overclocking, as it can damage the card. Although NVIDIA says the maximum TDP is 102°C, running above 80-85°C isn't advised for any GPU. Also, pushing the fan speed to 100% will wear it out quickly. Third, the GT610 is a budget model, nothing more. If you have a low budget, weak power supply, and can only install a low-profile card, it's better to invest $75-100 in a mid-range GPU.

KyleTheCat asked about the GeForce GT 610 with 1GB DDR3 RAM, specifically if it can be overclocked.

I successfully achieved 1ghz on the ASUS GeForce 610 2G-D3, which enhanced performance in CS:GO new nuke like 5 frames per second outside. Inside, I reached 150 fps easily, but the GPU overheated, and it became stable at 930-950 ghz.
