Gaming tips for Windows 7 LAN?
The bots would improve over time.
They begin quite clumsy.
However, allowing them to operate for several days without supervision makes them significantly more efficient than people.
I don't remember any specific enhancements from the bots over time. Unreal bots operate on rails until they enter combat. Their activation range and accuracy vary based on the bot level. Each character has unique sliders that influence their combat approach. On Godlike, with 100% characters such as Tamerlane and Loque, hitting headshots was almost instant if you had a sniper rifle and got close. I typically played Inhuman so they weren't overly perfect (I might have spent too many hours there). Fun fact, I didn't use a mouse in that game.
I maintained a Quake III Arena server for weeks or months, and I haven't noticed any bot improvements. If left alone, they performed fairly consistently in capture the flag, with kill ratios staying steady. I used to create custom maps for Quake III. It featured an interesting terrain generation tool where you could upload a bitmap that shaped itself based on gradients.
I never really delved into map creation for Unreal Tournament. At the time, true 3D terrain wasn't supported—everything was mostly flat. I didn't revisit it when 2K3 and 2K4 released their versions (I didn't mind those updates). UT3 still worked well though.
Me and other player play agianst AI controlled bot teams. Not interested in games that involve online play agiasnt people. Something with a campaign would be cool.
Thank you for the dugesstions everyone. Those do sound great.
😀
Anything else out there? Like RPG's or Fallout-ish, or Sid miner's civilization styles?
The DOTA could be what you're looking for. It's a mod for Warcraft III where you mainly played as the hero characters. The original Warcraft III itself isn't the remake. Diablo II supported LAN play and is a great, fast-paced action RPG.
Thank all for the ideas. I'm still seeking additional options. Something that supports LAN (cable to two PCs without internet) co-op play, with graphics above DOS but below the point where buying a better graphics card or a new PC is necessary. I'm aiming for something similar to Fallout: New Vegas minimum graphics settings.
