Hey, I just got a gaming laptop with these specs:
GPU: RTX 4060
CPU: Ryzen 7-7435HS
RAM: 16GB
1TB SSD
I’m not a tech expert, but my experience says the GPU and CPU seem fine for running Rust at lower settings. However, when using custom graphics presets, I’m only getting around 60–70 FPS, while the CPU is hovering near 90% and the GPU around 55–70%. It looks like the CPU usage is high even at max settings. I think the CPU might be too busy, not that it should be that intense. With this setup, I hope I can hit over 60/70 FPS especially when graphics are lighter. Anyone have ideas or more details to help fix this?

Gaming laptops tend to overheat. Have you modified the fan curves or made any changes?

Is the display on the laptop screen or monitor? If it's 60 Hz with V-sync active, you won't exceed that speed. Otherwise, it could be thermal throttling from the CPU. You might want to use a laptop cooling pad to check if it helps.
