Gaming headsets
I have never bought a gaming headset before. My son added it to his list of things. I understand he owns a Switch and also has an older PC for gaming.
I’m considering a JBL Quantum wired model with a 3.5mm jack. It claims to connect directly to a Switch and some gaming console controllers (possibly a PlayStation). My current PC is an older model with separate power and audio inputs. I’m checking online for “splitters” that could work—two headphones, but I’m unsure what the adapter would be named for connecting both speakers and microphone to a more outdated system.
As a side note, what kind of recommendations would you give for a budget-friendly option under $50?
I’m not sure about the current setup, but it seems the switch likely needs to be connected via a phone for voice chat. It worked similarly during launch when you had to install an app. The signal splitting should resolve the issue. You might also consider using a USB adapter (such as the KiWiBiRD USB to 3.5mm Jack Audio Adapter, USB to Headphone and Microphone Jack, Gaming Headset USB Aux Adapter, TRRS 4-pole, External Sound Card compatible with MacBook, Surface, PS4, Laptop) or a Bluetooth headset, which supports Bluetooth audio now. An Arctis 3 from steelseries could also be an option.
