Ya TDU, the main NFS titles and the crew are the only ones that match what you're after. I'm really into cars and racing, but their physics feel a bit off. For me, NFS Hot Pursuit is the best choice, it's the newest version from around 2008. The Crew game isn't worth it unless it got updated—otherwise, the in-game economy looks pretty bad.
