5900x might be too much for just gaming. At 1440p it would strain your GPU, but 5800x would still work fine even at 5600x

I believe 5900x might be a bit excessive just for gaming. An R7 5800x works well for both gaming and regular tasks. If you have the budget for an R9 5900x, the R7 5800x is definitely within reach. You could use that money for additional upgrades like another case fan.
