Hello, the performance of my PC has suddenly deteriorated. Games such as COD Warzone and GTA Online were running smoothly a week ago (around 40-50fps in Warzone and 50-60fps in GTA Online), but now they frequently freeze and stutter. Other demanding titles like Battlefield 1 and Need for Speed Heat seem unaffected.

I've cleaned the PC thoroughly using a vacuum cleaner and cloth, checked the graphics card, fans, cables, RAM, etc., but the issue persists. In BIOS I adjusted default settings and changed power saving mode to gaming mode, yet there was no improvement. Task Manager shows CPU at about 40%, RAM at 80-95%, and GPU at 50%.

If you need more information, I'm ready to help.

I believe several factors are contributing to these issues:
1) PSU: The wattage seems insufficient for a starter, and the power supply may start to struggle over time.
2) HDD: It starts slowly but becomes more problematic as it fills up. I like to keep each drive at around 70-80% capacity. (This is just my preference; others have different rules.)
There’s less than 10% free space, and the files on the HDD are likely fragmented. Fragmentation tends to worsen when the drive gets fuller. Without regular maintenance like deleting old files and defragmenting, this will get worse. Run Windows Disk Cleanup. Make sure all important files are...

Power supply details and model along with usage time are included. Also, the temperatures reached by your CPU and GPU during gameplay are recorded. This issue appears only in online sessions or is it happening with all four games using multiplayer? Have you tried reinstalling either of the affected games? Please maintain your Power Plan set to High Performance.

PSU details: make, model, wattage, age, condition? Heavy usage for gaming, video editing, bit-mining?
Storage space: how full?
Check Resource Monitor first, then during gaming.
Identify which resources are consumed and the percentage used, along with what is utilizing each.

hello, i looked inside the pc case but couldn't find the exact power supply model since it was tightly packed with other components. i managed to see that it was labeled as an Antec PSU. i've owned this entire system for about a year and two months.

my gaming is mostly from 1998 to 2012, and i only play a few exceptions. i don't do video editing or mining at all.

resource monitor shows the cpu usage stays between 40-42 cpu% when idle and spikes to 78-80 during the warzone menu. the gpu temperature remains around 37-40 whether playing or not.

i have 72.8gb of free disk space out of a total 998gb, which I use for all my games.

I believe there are several factors converging into issues:

1) PSU: The wattage seems insufficient for a starter, and the power supply may start to struggle or fail over time.
2) HDD: It starts slowly but becomes more problematic as it fills up. I like to keep each drive at 70-80% capacity. (This is just my preference; others have different rules.)
I have less than 10% free space, and the files on the HDD are likely fragmented. Fragmentation tends to worsen when the drive gets fuller. Without regular maintenance—like deleting old files and defragmenting—I’m concerned it will get worse. Run Windows Disk Cleanup. Make sure all critical files are backed up at least twice. Confirm the backups are both recoverable and readable.
How much space is left on the SSD? Likewise, the SSD should be cleared of outdated files.
SSDs shouldn’t be defragmented.
3) After cleaning, did you verify that all components—cards, connectors, RAM, jumpers—were securely in place? They can loosen over time, so re-seating them might help.
[Tip: Use compressed air for cleaning. Avoid vacuum cleaners. Vacuums can cause static electricity, which may harm parts. It’s also easy to miss something and break components, snag wires, or scratch PCBs.]
4) As per the note, "ram memory at 80-95%." If possible, consider adding more RAM by installing additional modules or using higher-capacity ones. Check the motherboard manual for supported RAM sizes. Also review the Page file setting. Let Windows handle the Page File and ensure it’s stored on the faster SSD.

if the problem were limited to online games, it would likely indicate a connection issue.

Sorry for the delayed reply, I'm currently with a bit of time to spare.
1) That's a shame because it's only been a year—will a 500w PSU be sufficient given my budget constraints?
2) I've removed unnecessary files and completed the disk cleanup; testing will be tomorrow. I have about 300 GB available now.
The SSD has 150 GB free out of a total 350 GB.
3) I verified that connectors are securely placed and checked the system settings—everything looks fine. I didn't realize vacuum cleaning was harmful, so I'll use compressed air next time.
4) I'm planning to purchase additional memory sticks since there are two free slots (two 4GB Corsair DDR3). Although it seems unusual to buy more given the games ran well recently.

The main question is whether 500 watts is sufficient. Check the referenced page for details. The goal is to determine the right PSU wattage using available calculators, adding up each device's requirements manually. If a device has a range, pick the higher value. For GPUs, if a minimum wattage is specified, I go with that number, even if it seems high, to account for any errors or future growth. This approach fits within the budget. Also, review the comments before making a decision.
