Hello, I really don’t understand what’s going on, so could you please assist me?
I’m experiencing a freezing problem mainly when playing larger games such as Rainbow6Legacy, Sea of Thieves, and Destiny 2. In contrast, games like Rocket League, Mx Bikes, and Sons of the Forest never freeze. Usually, after about 3 to 8 hours of play, my game freezes completely, and I can’t exit unless I open Task Manager and end the process for the game. More often than not, it freezes after 5 to 8 hours, though there have been instances where it froze sooner. Once I close the game, the PC seems to recover, but when I reopen it, it freezes again within 3 to 8 hours.
I’m aware freezing can occur for many reasons, so here’s what I’ve tried already: running a scan with SFC, memory, and virus protection (Kaspersky), performing disk scans, updating drivers and Windows, updating BIOS, upgrading my CPU to AMD, clearing temporary files, disabling unnecessary background apps, changing system properties to prioritize performance, conducting a stress test, and removing the glass panel.
I own a high-end PC that I’ve had for only 6-7 months. The system isn’t overclocked, and I’ve set the fans to automatic after testing optimal fan speeds.
My hardware includes:
- High-end HP y60 case
- All four G-series cards (Trident Z DDR5) at 6400MHz, totaling 64GB with a 16GB ECQ stick
- Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD (2TB)
- Ryzen 9 7950X 16-core CPU
- ASUS ROG Strix X670E-A motherboard
- Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Aero graphics card
- Four Lian Li 120mm fans and four 140mm fans
- One Lian Li 360mm liquid CPU cooler
- Corsair RM1000X power supply
I’d appreciate any advice or help you can provide.

Hey there,
Based on what you've shared, it seems like you've already tried several troubleshooting steps. Since freezing mainly occurs with larger games, it might be connected to the system's load. Here are some additional tips you could consider:
Review temperatures: Confirm that your CPU and GPU are operating within normal ranges during gameplay. Tools like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner can help track this.
Update GPU drivers: Even if you mentioned updating, newer versions sometimes cause problems. You might try reverting to an older driver version.
Adjust in-game graphics settings: Reducing graphical quality in affected games could ease system strain.
Scan for background tasks: Make sure no resource-heavy applications are running in the background while gaming. Use Task Manager for this.
Inspect game files: If using Steam, verify that your game files are intact and not corrupted.
Watch CPU/GPU usage: Keep an eye on usage during sessions to spot unusual spikes.
Examine power supply: Although your PSU appears adequate, ensure all connections are secure.
Look for BIOS updates: Check the manufacturer's site for any recent BIOS releases that could improve compatibility.
If the issue continues, consider reaching out to more experienced tech communities or forums for deeper assistance.
Good luck, and hope you resolve it soon!

Another option, besides what was mentioned earlier, is RAM. You likely have a significant amount of installed RAM for gaming, and it's possible that Windows isn't utilizing certain RAM pages until you're deep into a game. I would consider removing two RAM sticks—you probably won't even notice. Then swap the sticks and test the other two. Check if it freezes with one pair but not the other.

The Armoury Crate model at the end of the list could include items not on your board but worth considering.

Thank you for your assistance. Unfortunately, because it takes a long time to actually freeze, I won't know if it worked or not. I'll definitely try all these options. Thanks!

your armory crate is too open, and you should check for any drivers that need updating and installation.
