Exploring platforms such as the Steam deck and various handheld PCs, I’m interested in multi-system local multiplayer. It’s similar to what you’d find in handheld consoles like the DS or Switch—playing wirelessly with multiple devices without an internet link. This feature is called Ad-Hoc Multiplayer. I’m looking for PC games that actually offer this capability, or if it depends on additional settings on the operating system or hardware. Anyone have recommendations or insights?

Many classic titles from the 90s featured LAN play. Beyond that, I don’t think any games used WiFi or Bluetooth to support this system. The only instance I remember it functioning was with the original Call of Duty Zombies for iPod touch.
