Installing mods from certain servers forces the game to install them first, or changing display settings causes it to restart. Hand-editing the configuration files resolves the issue for those games. I tried resetting the PC to its original settings and reinstalling the games, which resolved the problem. Then I switched to Open Shell because I didn’t like the appearance of Windows 10 or 11, but the issue returned. That’s unusual since on my previous laptop (ASUS ROG running Windows 10) Open Shell worked fine without conflicts. Now I have another problem that still needs solving—even after uninstalling Open Shell and cleaning the registry, the conflict persists. I’m considering another factory reset or further troubleshooting.
