pc specifications: 3070 ryzen 5 5600x, 2x8gb ram, 3200 cl16 ram, 750w psu, asrock b550 phantom gaming. no overclocking yet. finally able to play star citizen on this new machine but it crashes during loading. 2 star citizen focused discord can't help and i've searched for a week without a solution. i'm giving up on the game. dcs also had major issues running, often crashing in vr. now i installed gta 5 because any system can run it, but it freezes after 10 minutes and crashes to desktop. my games only stop, and i have to close discord in task manager afterward. honestly, i don't know what to do and would be sad to lose $1800 on a non-working computer. please help me understand why star citizen and gta 5 keep crashing.

Are you checking the weather? If the software is brand new, a complete reinstall might not be necessary.

Keep temperatures below 70°C during intense gaming sessions, though on your desktop they’re nearer to 60°C. To perform a full Windows reinstall, follow the official installation steps or use a trusted recovery tool.

Use the Microsoft tool to create a bootable USB drive, then boot from it to access the installation process.

To delete Windows now, follow the on-screen instructions in your installer or use the built-in settings. Regarding your Windows key, it’s tied to your purchase; once activated, it remains valid unless you cancel the license.

Use the program installed on the USB drive. Many Windows shortcuts depend on physical devices, so I'm not entirely certain with a counterfeit key.

Is this exactly what you need to do? I actually assembled this machine a few weeks back—should I really be going through this again? On my previous setup, I didn’t have to and could enjoy more games than I can now for years.

Occasionally glitches happen with Windows, sometimes due to drivers. That’s why computer repair services and online communities exist.

Do you have someone who plays PC games to exchange components for testing? What kinds of issues arise? Do they crash to the desktop or need a restart?
