Hello,
I've been using my current PC setup for some time, and since installing the new GPU about three years ago, my games have been performing very poorly.
Here are my specifications:
- AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (minimal overclock)
- Nvidia 2070 Super
- 32GB DDR4 RAM (16GB from Hyperx Fury and 16GB from Corsair Vengaence, both 3200mhz)
- 970 PRO NVME SSD
- Seasonic 650 Watt GOLD PSU
- MSI B450M Pro-VDH max (BIOS dated 20-10-2023)
I’ve noticed that almost every game I own and played is running poorly. I experience frequent small stutters and consistently low FPS, even though my CPU and GPU usage remain low—around 20%-40% in most titles. Even simple games like Minecraft with low settings behave this way.
The only exception is Warthunder, where disabling anti-aliasing results in smooth performance (60-70% GPU usage) and high FPS. Benchmarks show my GPU and CPU operate perfectly, even at high loads and scores.
I’ve tried everything: resetting the PC, updating drivers, adjusting 3D settings, changing power plans, updating the system, resetting GPU drivers, and tweaking game settings. Sometimes I suspect antialiasing might be the culprit, as it runs smoothly in Warthunder but not in others.
I’ve been searching for a solution for a long time, but no one seems to have found a fix.
Also, my GPU makes a slight coil whine when using 3D graphics (in games and benchmarks).
If anyone has suggestions on how to resolve this, please let me know—I’ve been looking for answers for a while.
650 Watt GOLD psu
650 is the advertised wattage of the unit, while gold is the advertised 80+ efficiency rating. What is the make and model of the unit? How old is the unit? 3 years?
You forgot to mention the make and model of your motherboard. Include that alongside your motherboard BIOS version.
Hey there,
What motherboard are you using? Which RAM, model, and manufacturer are you running. When you changed the BIOS, which version did you switch to, and did you reset the CMOS afterward? If you delete all operating system settings and boot at default, does the problem continue?
Yes, cleared CMOS and only OC'd after it began. Updated the list. Appreciate the response.
Even after fixing it, mixed memory still indicates potential memory problems. Consider running memtest to check further.
After my issues began, I've learned a great deal, yet everything functions perfectly together.
