For more than a year, I’ve experienced this problem intermittently; it sometimes persists for extended periods while other times disappears completely for weeks. However, it's exceptionally frustrating. Whenever this occurs, when I navigate to a game or web page utilizing media playback, the audio becomes intensely distorted and my frame rates plummet dramatically below the system’s potential. These two symptoms consistently coincide.

I’ve attempted numerous solutions without success. I’ve conducted thorough virus scans, updated drivers, utilized systemcare software, and I'm completely stumped.

My computer’s specifications are as follows:
i7 4770K 3.50GHz processor
16GB RAM
GTX 780
SSD 120GB and 3TB HDD

I could provide details about the motherboard and case, but I no longer have that specific information. If this data is essential, I can investigate further.

Any assistance would be incredibly valuable; has anyone else encountered a similar resolution to this issue? Thank you.

This could be an old card – what’s your build age?

Clean the GPU for dust buildup… perform a fresh installation of your GPU drivers using Guru3D. Also, try updating your VBIOS if that doesn’t resolve the issue...

Additionally, what are the complete specifications of your power supply and which Windows version are you running?

This machine has been in use for roughly three years and seven months.
I believe my electrical unit is a 650-watt Corsair power supply.
I’ll attempt those solutions now. Best regards.

It’s likely around 650 watts, silver color. I’d need to disassemble the unit further for precise details, but I’m hesitant to do so. However, I can investigate if it proves necessary for resolving this problem.

User349:
Approximately 650W, silver color. I’m pretty confident about that, but to provide specific details, I’d need to disassemble the case again, which I’m hesitant to do. However, I can if it's truly important for resolving this issue. Have you ever been able to resolve this problem? My build is almost exactly like yours and I’ve also recently encountered similar issues—I suspect my SSD might be failing or there could be another hardware fault.

I own:
Intel Core i7-4770K
16 GB of DDR3 2133 MHz RAM
Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti
Asus Sabertooth Z87 Motherboard
Soundblaster Recon 3D
Fed by an HX850 850 watt power supply.

I’ve recently encountered this problem repeatedly – initially when playing the Spellbreak Alpha, I attributed it to the game itself. It then occurred during Apex Legends, and I assumed it was a game-specific glitch. Later, it appeared while running Battlefield 4, a title where I previously experienced no difficulties.

I've been tracking my system temperatures to investigate potential overheating. During gameplay, my GPU reached approximately 79°C and my CPU peaked at around 65°C.

I’ve taken the following steps:
I ran sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, which identified and corrected some errors but failed to resolve the problem (though it seemed to briefly fix things before reoccurring). I also performed a complete uninstall and reinstall of my Nvidia drivers and a full uninstall and reinstall of the Soundblaster Recon 3D drivers.

I considered disconnecting the Recon 3D and using the integrated sound to see if that resolved the issue, but after reading reports from others experiencing the same problem while utilizing onboard Realtek audio, I decided against it.

I also suspected my power supply might be involved as the issue seemed to arise when numerous devices were charging through the front USB ports; however, today it happened even without any peripherals connected.

This suggests a possible failing power supply, and I plan to continue observing this situation while documenting further updates in this thread.
